A New Era of Educational Sovereignty

On March 2, 2026, First Lady Melania Trump presided over the United Nations Security Council and delivered a historic address calling for “peace through education.” At first glance, it was a call for global stability. For those of us tracking the systematic erosion of individual sovereignty through institutional dependency, it was something far more consequential: a declaration of war against what I call the Digital Stasi—the interconnected machinery of censorship, educational fraud, and bureaucratic gatekeeping that keeps billions of human beings intellectually captive.
The Battle for the Mind
In my newly released book, The Straw Man, I detail how modern collectivist movements weaponize education as a tool of learned helplessness. They rewrite history—erasing the Iroquois Confederacy’s foundational influence on our Republic, obscuring the global scope of the slave trade, and replacing civic literacy with ideological compliance—all to make the individual dependent on the State.
The First Lady’s address directly challenged this mechanism. By advocating for the “democratization of knowledge” through technology, she proposed a path where the most remote regions on earth can access wisdom directly—bypassing the bureaucratic gatekeepers who currently curate, and censor, what we are permitted to know.
This is not a theoretical position. Fifty-four percent of American adults read below a sixth-grade level. Seventy-three percent of young adults lack basic financial literacy. These are not accidents of nature. They are the predictable output of an educational system that was never designed to produce sovereign individuals.
Peace Through Education vs. Control Through Indoctrination
The Straw Man logic dictates that traditionalists are “anti-education.” The reality is the precise opposite. Traditionalists believe in what I call Sovereign Education—the development of a self-reliant mind capable of independent thought, productive work, and civic responsibility.
Consider the contrast. The progressive model is centralized, state-administered, and oriented toward social engineering. Its outputs are credentialed but incapable—graduates who hold diplomas but cannot balance a checkbook, read a lease, or identify a logical fallacy. The sovereign model, the model practiced at Global Sovereign University, is decentralized, self-directed, and rooted in the spirit of the American frontier: independence, resilience, and faith in the individual’s capacity to learn.
When the First Lady spoke of elevating children “above ideology,” she was calling for the very Declaration of Educational Independence that GSU was founded to facilitate. Not education as social control. Education as liberation.
Cracking the Digital Stasi
We are living through an undeclared war on independent thought. The European Union’s Digital Services Act, and its sympathizers in American institutions, seek to classify traditional values—faith, family, national sovereignty, individual liberty—as “disinformation.” The objective is a homogenized world where every culture looks, thinks, and speaks from a state-approved script.
In my earlier work, The Fog-Industrial Complex, I mapped the ecosystem of industries—from predatory lending to remedial education to government dependency programs—whose revenue depends on sustained production of functionally illiterate adults. The Digital Stasi is the enforcement arm of that ecosystem: the censors, the algorithm curators, and the platform gatekeepers who ensure that the tools of liberation never reach the people who need them most.
The UN gavel, in the hands of a leader who understands the value of national sovereignty and the traditional family, is a symbol that the cage is cracking.
The Choice Before Us
Will we continue to allow the Straw Man to dictate the terms of our survival? Or will we follow the blueprint of the Iroquois Confederacy and the Founders to reclaim our minds?
Peace is not found in the surrender of our values to a global collective. Peace is found in the power of a sovereign individual who is too well-educated to be manipulated, too self-reliant to be coerced, and too clear-eyed to mistake indoctrination for instruction.
It is time to teach the world to fish again.
