Dial a Teacher

Coming Soon — Help Us Turn the Line On

A teacher, one phone call away.
From any phone on Earth.

No smartphone. No internet. No app. A payphone works. A landline works. A twenty-year-old flip phone works. Dial the toll-free number and a patient teacher answers — free — because the people who need education most are the people the internet never reached. This is the telephone half of the same promise as GENO in a Box.

Help Fund the Line → GSU is a startup nonprofit. The line goes live when direct contributions and book sales can sustain it.

How it will work

The hardest part of free education is reaching the person with nothing. The telephone network already reaches them. We intend to use it.

1

Dial toll-free

855-906-1039 from any phone — payphone, landline, borrowed flip phone. The call costs the caller nothing.

2

A teacher answers

Patient, unhurried help with reading, math, words, forms, and trades — the GSU curriculum, by voice alone.

3

Ask until it's clear

No time limit on understanding. No judgment, no account, no cost. Hang up smarter than you dialed.

Why the line isn't on yet — plain talk

Toll-free means GSU pays for every minute so the caller pays for none. We are a startup 501(c)(3) that charges no one for anything, funded entirely by donated book proceeds and direct contributions. The day that income can sustain the phone bill, the line goes live — and the poorest classroom in America gets a teacher on call. You can move that day closer: contribute, or simply buy any of our books — every dollar is donated to the mission.

Have internet right now? Then you don't have to wait. GENO — our AI tutor — already answers voice calls in 32 languages on every page of this site. Tap the call button in the corner and start talking. The phone line exists for everyone who can't do that.

Questions, answered

What is Dial a Teacher?

A toll-free teaching line — 855-906-1039 — that will connect any caller, from any phone, to free patient tutoring across the GSU curriculum. No smartphone, internet, account, or cost required. It is built for the people technology left behind.

Is the number working today?

Not yet. GSU is a startup nonprofit, and a toll-free line means GSU pays for every minute of every call. The service begins when direct contributions and book sales generate sufficient income to sustain it. Callers who dial today hear an honest recorded message saying exactly that.

How can I help turn it on?

Contribute through our Quid Pro Quo page, or buy any GSU book — all proceeds are donated to the mission. Every dollar shortens the wait.

Who is this for?

The poorest of the poor: people without smartphones, data plans, or internet. Together with GENO in a Box — our offline broadcast library — it forms GSU's promise that no one is too disconnected to learn.

I have internet. Do I need the phone line?

No — you can talk to a teacher right now. GENO, GSU's AI tutor, answers voice calls in 32 languages from the call button on every page of this site, free, 24/7.

What will I be able to ask?

Anything you would ask a teacher: help sounding out words, math one step at a time, what a form really says, trade questions, practice and patience in equal measure.
