Built on the Science of Reading

The Reading Arsenal is grounded in the same research base that drives Structured Literacy and Orton-Gillingham intervention: systematic, explicit, cumulative phonics instruction delivered in a multisensory format. The National Reading Panel identified five pillars of effective reading instruction — phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. This Arsenal covers the first two comprehensively and builds toward all five.

The 2-Sigma Problem

One-on-one tutoring produces gains two standard deviations above classroom instruction. This Arsenal delivers the same phonics sequence — with GENO as the 1:1 tutor — to anyone with an internet connection.

Reading Wars Settlement

The decades-long Reading Wars between whole-language and phonics are settled. Systematic phonics wins. 32 states have now passed science-of-reading legislation. GSU built this Arsenal before most schools implemented the change.

Adult Literacy Crisis

54% of U.S. adults read below a 6th-grade level. 130 million American adults have low literacy. The Arsenal’s Lab 8 targets this population directly — same engine, adult dignity, zero cost.

GENO AI Tutor
GENO — The AI Tutor Behind Every Lab
A robot you can actually TALK to. 32 languages. 24/7. Free.

Every lab in the Arsenal is connected to GENO, GSU’s AI tutor. Ask about any phonics rule, any word, any pattern. Get an explanation in your language. Practice reading aloud. Ask the question you’d be embarrassed to ask in a classroom. GENO is available on every page, in 32 languages, at no cost, with no login required, for as long as GSU exists.

From the Founding Chancellor
“Every person on Earth is born with an American spirit: an untamed yearning for a better tomorrow.”
— Dr. Gene A. Constant, Founding Chancellor, Global Sovereign University

The Reading Arsenal exists because reading is sovereignty. A person who cannot decode print cannot access law, medicine, contracts, ballots, or opportunity. GSU’s mission is to remove that barrier for every person on Earth — free, no login, no paywall, always.
