Surprise is the moment your model of reality meets a fact it did not contain, and it will keep happening, because the world always exceeds the model. Sixteen lessons, one per chapter: the brain as a prediction engine, the mathematics of uncertainty, and how to live with steadiness when the map fails. Free, no account, nothing to install.

Step one · Read

The chapter, broken into the separate ideas you will be asked to use. Read it, or have it read to you.

Step two · Work

A bench you can change, and it answers the way the chapter does. Then a short practice to carry into your own day.

Step three · Prove

A new situation every attempt. Miss one and you are told why that choice fails, and sent back to the exact idea it was testing.

Your progress is kept on your own device. Nothing is transmitted and nobody is asked who you are. This class teaches the book’s ideas; it is not therapy or medical advice.

    Certificate of Comprehension

    Working the lessons is practice, and practice does not earn a certificate. The certificate comes from a separate exam of 48 questions, three from each lesson, graded on our server so no answer key ever reaches your browser. Score 80% or better for a free certificate with a serial number anyone can verify. It records that you read the book and passed our test on it; it is not a licence or a professional credential.
