The Little Economy

Ms. Rivera’s class in Room 12 builds a whole working economy of its own: they mint their own money, take on jobs, pay rent, open a class bank, hold Market Day, start businesses, and decide together on fines and taxes. Your child learns money the way grown-ups live it, with other people. Ten lessons, one for each chapter of the book. Free, no account, nothing to install.

Step one · Read

Read the lesson your way: younger reader, older reader, or the book’s own words. Press Listen to hear any part read aloud. The whole chapter is on the page too.

Step two · Do

Hands-on activities that answer back: sort earning from spending and saving, play the token experiment, match jobs to tasks, and family activities to try at home.

Step three · Check

Short questions at the end. Miss one and you get a hint and another try. Get them all and the lesson is complete.

Progress is kept on this device only. Nothing is sent anywhere and nobody is asked who you are. Grown-ups: younger children do best when you read along with them.

The ten lessons

One for each chapter, in the book’s order. They open one at a time as each is finished.

    The Certificate of Comprehension

When all ten lessons are open, a final check will follow, graded on GSU’s server, with a certificate anyone can verify. It is not a school grade or a credit, but you will be able to list it on your child’s free Kitchen-Table Record Kit transcript.

Lessons open one at a time as each is built. Come back to see the next one.

    The book behind the class

The Little Economy was written by our founder, Dr. Gene A Constant, and donated to the Foundation. It is the third book of the Little Economist trilogy, after Raising a Little Economist and The Little Economist’s Handbook, and it arrives in December 2026. The class is free. Book sales are how the Foundation pays for it.

Global Sovereign University is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and book sales are its only income. See the whole trilogy on the Economics page.

Accreditation notice: Global Sovereign University is not an accredited institution and does not grant degrees, academic credit, licenses, or industry credentials. Learners who pass GSU's online exams earn GSU certificates of comprehension.
